GAHARU TEA VALLEY GOPENG

Gaharu Tea Valley is an Agarwood plantation just outside Gopeng, Perak, and has become something of an agro-tourism destination.It was set up some 20 years ago, covering 300 acres of elevated grounds and at one time, there are approximately 200,000 Gaharu trees. At that point 90% of the produce was to meet demands from global markets primarily Middle East, China, Japan, Taiwan and Korea.









Gaharu is more commonly known as Agarwood, but also know as Aloewood, Eaglewood, Oud or Jinko in different part of the world. The Gaharu wood has long played a significant role in Arabian and Chinese culture. It is considered to be nature's most valuable wood not only because it is an essential oil but because of its health benefits. So high was it regarded that this natural forest treasure is known as the "Wood Of God".



Tourist will be given a tour to the vast tea valley including a 20 year old Gaharu tree, which tourists are encourage to hug the tree for luck. This 20-year-old mother tree, which seed have been used to populate the plantation, located at the valley's highest point, surrounded by splendid panoramic views.






The entrance is free but to wander around the plantation, it is advised to pay for the van ticket which cost RM10 for adult and RM5 for children. The minivan guided tour will bring you to interest point such as The Viewing Stage, Hugging Park, and Lover Park.
