Gunung Datuk

SUNDAY 21st JANUARY 2018

Climbing this mountain is well worth the effort. It's quite mentally challenging, but believe me, once you are on top, as soon as the path emerges from the thick jungle, you will be rewarded with excellent 360 degree views and a cooling breeze.

Gunung Datuk is located at Rembau town, one of the district of Negeri Sembilan state. Standing at 885 meters high, Gunung Datuk promise to give you a magnificent 360 degree panorama view of the state. The summit is easily identified by the formation of huge rocks with steel ladders for assistance.

Starting off from the parking, you will make your way from the entrance (with the signage) hike your way for a few minutes until you meet a small damn. Crossing the river then you will meet a small hut for you to register ( well, you need to buy the permit here, which cost you RM5 ).

Continue you way forward, going downhill and walk few minutes until you reach the pathway full of rocks. Well, the challenges starts here. You will have to climb your way all up ( this will lead you to few hours of hiking, depending on your pace ).

Some of the tracks provides you with ropes. Others you have to climb it yourself. The track is quite straight forward, and the marking on the trees make it easy to identify. After a few hours hikes, then you see a big rock. This shows you that you are already reach the first landing or camping site of the of the mountain.

We stop here for a while, resting and eat before we proceed. From here you can see a steel ladder going up. Follow that ladder until you see another ladder (double height). Go up and then you will see another tall ladder. This is the final one. Climb up again and finally you reach the top.

It took me 2 and a half hours to reach here. Though it is quite challenging, but believe me, once you up here, all those hard work do payed off. The 360 view is so magnificent !

This mountain is suitable for all ages to climb. A bit hard for those who a beginners, but still, with a bit effort, you can make you way up successfully.

Give it a try. I hope you enjoy the hike.

Good Luck !
