It takes roughly 8 hours driving from
Kuala Lumpur to
Kuala Besut (well, depend on how fast your drive. For my case, I just follow the speed limit). Kuala Besut is one of
Terengganu's northern state, where it shares the border with
Kelantan. From Kuala Lumpur, you will pass another states of Malaysia, which is
Pahang. You will have to use the
Lebuh Raya Pantai Timur in order to get there. No other options, unless if you prefer the old road. (which will took you more time).
Arriving roughly around 7.00am, we park our car and head for breakfast. People already crowded, preparing themselves to take the early boat. The boat leaving to the island is only 4 times, one is at 8.00am, followed by 10.30am, then 1.30pm, and the last one will be 4.30am. Later then that, I'm afraid, you have to catch the next boat tomorrow. It is a speedboat, and the cost is
RM70 (return tix).
The journey to the island will take 30-40 minutes. Depends on your luck, you will get either the single boat, or the double deck. Be prepare for the uncomfortable bumpy ride as you pass thru the ocean wave. (this won't be if you have the double deck)
If you taking the double deck, you will need to transfer to small boat, and speed your way to the island.
